Luc Arbona, based in Achères, chose Irisolaris as a third-investor to build his two photovoltaic sheds in 2022. In 2025, a third building is already planned. The breeder thus has buildings for his suckler cattle at a lower cost.

After a visit to the top of the breeding, Luc Arbona and his son Marc concluded an agreement with Irisolaris. Independent French company, Irisolaris is present throughout the territory thanks to its seven regional agencies, including one in Poitiers. It was the latter who studied their project and offered them a 30-year emphyteutic lease: thus, Irisolaris is the owner of the building, and offers the enjoyment of the place to breeders.

“Isolaris mounts the sheds in favor of the farmer. Our client does not need to borrow, the building is financed by the electricity produced on the roof. », explains Bertrand de Verneuil, regional sales manager for Irisolaris Poitiers.

The first shed of 870 m² and the second, of 1980 m², they provide 170 kWp for the first, and 345 kWp for the second. both have a height of more than 9m. “At the end of the 30 years, the buildings will be ours and we will see if we will keep the panels or if we will dismantle them”, adds Luc Arbona, who will be able, from next year, benefit from batteries in exchange for a balance, additional income.

A tailor-made construction

This formula to build and use new buildings was perfect for Luc and Marc Arbona. “We did not have to invest entirely in the construction of the hangars”, specifies one of the two breeders. Luc Arbona was only responsible for earthworks, cladding (north, east and west sides) and channels.

“We were able to choose their dimensions and their design”, he continues.

The buildings will be dedicated to the storage of fodder and animals, with in particular the creation of a fattening workshop. “We needed space and save money. For example, to protect hay and straw bales, we will save 700 euros in tarpaulins”, specifies the breeder.

The metal construction meets expectations in terms of animal comfort and work organization, for better efficiency. ‘The photovoltaic roof is steep on the south side and on the north side, it leaves a space of a few meters to facilitate the entry of light and the circulation of air’, completes Marc Arbona. These facilities are suitable for the manipulation of the cattle: the boxes will be larger for the weaners at the fattening, which will have 8 m² instead of 6m2  each. The 12 m spans leave space without post and the 3m awnings will facilitate the distribution of the feed and watering in a well distributed way.

The two buildings are mounted: all that remains is to arrange them. Luc and Marc Arbona are delighted with this system which allows them to modernize at a lower cost.
